Marie Curie is a French chemist and physicist born in Poland, which until now were the only people who ever get the Nobel prize in two different fields, namely physics and chemistry. Her discovery made ​​Marie Curie in the field of radioactivity into the list of influential inventors to the world. Marie Curie was the first woman Nobel Prize winner and also was the first woman professor at the university, Universities of Paris.

Although the nationality of France, Marie Curie has never lost a sense of pride as a Pole. The discovery of the first chemical element found in 1898 was named “polonium” and the subsequent discovery of the radium a few months later. Radium is a radioactive substance which is widely used in the medical field and medicine, usually to remove cancer cells to irradiate the cancer with radioactive substances.

Marie was born in Warsaw, Poland with the name of Maria Sklodowska. Marie Curie’s parents worked as teachers, and his name (nickname Marie Curie) at the age of 16 years has gained the gold medal while completing a second education (junior high), then, her parents almost lost all his property because of a loss when investing. His name ended up working as a teacher aide to help support their families. At that time, women in Poland (which was still under Russian domination that time) were not able to get a higher education, so after graduating from school, his name not be able to continue their education to university.

At the age of 18 years, Marie worked as a tutor for a rich family. Most of his income as a tutor and then given to his sister to help her brother in France the cost of education. After his sister who went to the French medical school, graduate, earned a doctor, his name and then relocate to France in 1891. He then entered the Sorbonne university (now the Universities of Paris) and majored in physics and mathematics. His name or Marie Curie finally graduated as best student in his class.

Last name Marie (Curie) was obtained when she married Pierre Curie, who is also a chemist. Marie Curie has two daughters, Irène and Eve, who was born in 1897 and 1904. Irène who continue and develop the work of his mother also get nobel prize in chemistry.

Marie Curie’s work and research to make the chemists and physicists to understand how to gather sources that contain radioactive material to cure diseases as well as for research purposes that is more in the radioactive substances.
